This one-of-a-kind apartment, offers a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room, and spectacular 2nd story porch views. Located on the 2nd story, the apartment is accessible by spiral stairs on back of the house. One can enjoy both front and back porch seating. It’s luxuriously outfitted with custom furnishing and a full-size copper bathtub. The kitchen is a timeless centerpiece, featuring a timeless La Cornue gas oven and cooktop from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by a whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hood. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations. Entertainment is seemlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Smart television, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s. The bathrooms are masterful blends of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sink. A period-inspired water closet sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic. Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: relaxing on the porch and enjoying the coastal breeze. The Cannonborough neighborhood is an inviting downtown area that blends classic architecture with a modern lifestyle. A quieter, tucked away Inn, walking distance to historic locations such as King Street and a selection of delicious restaurants, cafes, and bakeries.
The location is ideally suited for walking, but Uber and Lyft are also readily available.
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.

No bachelor or bachelorette parties are allowed unless approved by host in writing in advance. Should this rule be violated, the reservation will be cancelled by AirBnb as a violation of house rules.
Casual enjoyment of the porches and surrounds are encouraged as this activity is complimentary to the surrounds and our brand, the Charlestonian. Therefore to be clear, no parties or partying.
No noise and/or music after 9PM. Any noise and/or music prior to to 9PM must not be readily discernible to neighbors or guests so as to maintain livability in the house and the neighborhood. Porches are for the relaxation, conversation, and quiet enjoyment of all guests; therefore, please refrain from any loud noise or loud conversation remove your shoes inside the apartment after 11 PM.
Professional photography for guests is discouraged as this has proven to be disruptive to other guests’ enjoyment of the property and always commands exclusive use of the welcoming porches though which all enter the building. Onsite photographers must be approved by staff in writing, in advance.
Hair stylists and professional third-party salon services are to be performed at a salon rather than at this gorgeous, immaculately taken care of historic house.
No smoking anywhere on the property. This includes on the porches and in front of the house and on the grounds. No high-heels – they ruin the pine floors. No loudness – there are others nearby. Refrain from wearing shoes inside the apartment after 11 PM. Please do not flush anything besides toilet paper down the toilets. Leaning against or standing upon the porch handrails is both unwise and strictly not allowable. Re-arranging of furniture, interior or exterior, is not allowable. Coolers are not permitted inside the apartment or on the porches.
Coasters are to be used when any beverage is placed upon the wooden furniture. Slate coasters abound throughout.
The Nest HVAC thermostats must be kept within 69 to 76 degrees at all times. Adjustment to your comfort level is advised within this reasonable range in temperature.
Inclement Weather Policy: Your reservation is our commitment to you and your commitment to us as a family-owned property. Please understand that we cannot be responsible for inclement weather or other causes for delays and cancellations at your point of origin or the locations you may connect through when traveling to visit us. We strongly advise you to purchase travel insurance to cover the cost of your stay in case of emergencies, unexpected interruptions, if you may be traveling during periods of inclement weather, or if you have other reasons to suspect you might need to cancel your reservation. Your reservation will only be cancelled in the event of a government-issued mandatory evacuation order whereupon your will receive a credit lasting one year towards a future stay. In the absence of a mandatory evacuation order, there will be no refunds or credits for the reservation. We thank you for your understanding!
